In this recent published work, we show that a metalens may be directly integrated with an endoscope to improve the resolution of optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging of lung tissue. The metalens enables high-resolution endoscopic imaging at extended depth-of-focus by correcting for monochromatic aberrations and engineering chromatic dispersion. High-resolution three-dimensional images were captured by inserting the nano-optic endoscope into the lungs endobronchially to visualize airway tissue microstructures.
